COSTUME PLOT

Lachie: 2 pairs white pajamas, 2 pairs blues, 1 pair slippers, 1 battledress (zippered for fast change), 1 pair field shoes, 1 kilt, 1 jacket, 1 sporran, 1 pair stockings, 1 pair spats, 1 side-cap, 1 belt, 1 pair brogues, 1 bathrobe.

Yank: 2 pairs white pajamas, 2 pairs blues, 1 pair slippers, 1 battledress (zippered for fast change), 1 pair field shoes.

Colonel: 1 uniform, 1 pair boots.

Orderly: 1 battledress, 1 pair field shoes.

Sister Margaret: 1 long-sleeved uniform (Acts I and III), 1 short-sleeved uniform (Act II), 1 red cape (first entrance and Act III, Scene 2), white stockings, white shoes.

Tommy: 2 pairs white pajamas, 2 pairs blues, 1 pair slippers.

Digger. 2 pairs white pajamas, 2 pairs blues, 1 pair slippers.

Kiwi: 2 pairs white pajamas, 2 pairs blues, 1 pair slippers.

Blossom: 2 pairs white pajamas, 2 pairs blues, 1 pair slippers.

 

PROPERTY PLOT

OFF-STAGE PROPS

Act I---on stage: 6 beds, 6 nets, 6 mattresses, 6 pillows, 6 pillow cases, 12 sheets, 6 bed tables, 6 common lanterns (one on each bed table), 1 wooden double door cabinet (under R. window), 6 bed blankets, 3 pairs of white pajamas (inside cabinet), 1 bottle of alcohol (inside cabinet), 6 small turkish towels (back of all bed tables), 5 water bottles (odd liquor bottles each bed table except Lachie), 4 back rests (behind beds of Digger, Tommy, Lachie, Kiwi---these are two wooden frames hinged together, the front frame is laced with canvas tape), 1 eight-foot bamboo pole (against left wall), 1 musical instrument (under Blossom's bed---this is one half of a petrol can with stick of wood attached and three steel strings which we have found makes a fairly reasonable facsimile of a native instrument), 2 screens (these are wooden frames six feet high to which is attached red material---each screen is hinged into three sections to facilitate handling by the actors).

Contents of No. 1 Bed Table (Digger): (Top) bottle of water, lamp, fly-swatter; (Shelf) knife, fork and spoon, metal box of cigarettes and matches, razor, toothbrush, shaving brush, shaving cream, shaving mug; (Bottom) knitting and needles, blues (for costume change), spare fly-swatter.

Contents of No. 2 Bed Table (Tommy): (Top) lamp, water bottle, ash tray; (Shelf) fly-swatter, knife, fork and spoon, metal box with cigarettes and matches, spit cup, mirror, razor, shaving cream, toothbrush; (Bottom) embroidery on small hoop with needle, writing pad, written letter, addressed envelope, pencils, blues (for costume changes), spare fly-swatter.

Contents on No. 3 Bed -Table (Yank): (Top) lamp, water bottle, ash tray; (Shelf) shaving mug, razor, shaving brush, toothbrush, toothpaste, metal box of cigarettes and matches, chocolate bar, spare roll of film; (Bottom) crocheting and needle, magazine, blues (for costume change).

Contents of No. 4 Bed Table (Lachie) : (Top) lamp, ash tray; (Shelf) knife, fork and spoon, metal box of matches and cigarettes.

Contents of No. 5 Bed Table (Kiwi): (Top) lamp, water bottle, nail file, fly-swatter; (Shelf) two books, wrist-watch, knife, fork and spoon, spit cup, metal container for cigarettes and matches, toothbrush, toothpaste, razor, shaving cream, shaving brush; (Bottom) blues (for costume change).

Contents of No. 6 Bed Table (Blossom): (Top) lamp, water bottle, file, fly-swatter; (Shelf) two books, wrist-watch, knife, fork and spoon, spoon, metal box with matches; (Bottom) blues (for costume change).

Note:

There is a wooden peg in back wall over Lachie's bed to hang real bagpipe on and also green dummy bag, which hangs on peg during Scene 31.

There are pails of water in cook-shed and washroom for actors to get rid of cigarettes on exits.

A man must be in washroom at rise to open door for Orderly on his entrance with two washbowls.

Pegs in washroom to facilitate costume changing.

Thermometer for Blossom must be short enough to enable him to take all of it into his mouth.

There is a plaster cast made up to fit the left arm of Kiwi for Act I.
